Under the direction of experienced CEO Rose Padilla Johnson, Davis Street Community Center in San Leandro, California has expanded into one of Alameda County’s premier one-stop-shop sites for social services. Thanks to her strategic planning and fundraising skills, the center in San Leandro purchased its 22,357-square-foot offices on Teagarden Street in 2012. Rose Padilla Johnson and her team offer professional medical and dental care, childcare, access to food and clothing, and more at this location. A planned gift to the Davis Street Foundation is an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy of hope and healing to the individuals and families that use the center. Donors may make a bequest in their will that benefits the center or provide support through a trust or other type of planned gift. Given the high cost of living across the Bay Area, more and more families find themselves pushed to the limits of what they can afford, often doing without necessities to prioritize rent or medical care. For many, Davis Street offers a way to fill in the gaps and repair the results of social inequities. For example, the center’s high-quality childcare helps parents working one or more lower-wage jobs make ends meet while giving their children a developmentally enriching educational experience in an atmosphere of warmth and caring. Giving back to the community through support for Davis Street is as simple as a click at DavisStreet.org. There, prospective donors will find an outline of how to set up the organization as a beneficiary in a will or trust. via WordPress https://ift.tt/2Oz995P

Rose Padilla Johnson, from San Leandro, California, has been involved with the Davis Community Street Center since the early 1990s. In her role as CEO, Rose Padilla Johnson oversees the center, which provides a range of resources and support for the underserved in San Leandro and surrounding communities. The Davis Street Community Center provides educational, health, and career support for the families and children that make up its community, and this fundraising event went toward supporting these programs. The center supports itself in a number of different ways, including fundraising events such as the Motown-inspired gala hosted virtually in August 2020. Started by Barry Gordy as a corporation in 1960, the company introduced the Motown sound to the American palette, primarily through jazz, funk, blues, and gospel. Some of the most well-known music acts got their start with Motown, such as the Four Tops, The Temptations, Smoky Robinson, and The Supremes, among other internationally-known acts. This year’s Annual Fundraiser Gala returned to the Motown era not only to give tribute to the music but to also raise badly needed funds for the center. Held at the end of August at the Sequoyah Country Club, the virtual event involved participants wearing styles reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s and listening to the music. via WordPress https://ift.tt/39OFFc8 |
